Getting there

Car

Driving by car from London takes about 6 hours. There’s free parking in the street, usually right opposite the house.

Public transport

The nearest railway stations are Windermere and Ulverston – about 3½ hours from Euston. They are on different branch-lines off the West coast main line, so you change to a local train for the last half-hour of the journey.

Windermere and Ulverston are both about 15 miles from Coniston.  Each has a direct bus service to Coniston, but it is infrequent, especially in winter, so you’ll need to time your trains carefully.  A single taxi fare is about £25 to £30.

Let us know if you’d like copies of bus timetables and a list of local taxi companies to book your taxi in advance.

Price and availability

Please understand that the house is our second home. We need help to meet the running costs, but we’re letting only to people we know. The prices are well below the commercial rates in the Lake District.

Waged: £350 per week (or £250 for up to 4 nights)

Unwaged and clergy: £250 per week (or £175 for up to 4 nights)

Price includes bedding, towels, all utilities (except coal), and cleaning after you leave. You need to make the beds when you arrive, and strip them when you leave.

Please note that the house is unlikely to be available at Christmas, New Year or in the school summer holiday.
